Export controls allows you to create and manage how your assets can be exported. This allows you to create brand consistency by ensuring your assets are never used at the incorrect size or in the wrong file type.

Important note, Export controls are only available to customers in the Plus or Enterprise tiers, and you'll need edit privileges on a Kit in order to use them.

Using Export Controls

To manage export options for an asset simply select “manage” in the Export panel. You’ll then be taken to a modal with two sections — one for controlling preset exports and the other for controlling custom exports.

To review, Preset Exports are the existing exports people can choose from when downloading a particular asset from your Lingo library. By default Lingo creates preset exports for every asset (that can be converted) you add to Lingo. In the Preset exports section of the modal you can manage the exports created by default and also create new ones. When managing an export you’ll be able to define the file type and exact dimensions of the export. For the dimension you can enter one of the following options:

  • multiple (ex. 2x)

  • width (ex. 400w)

  • height (ex. 200h)

The Custom Export feature allows people who are downloading an asset from your Lingo library to change the dimensions of the asset to a size of their choosing before downloading the asset. In the Custom exports section of the modal you can restrict which file types can be changed before downloading.

Currently Export controls can only be applied to a single asset at a time, we’re going to look into batch functionality in the future.
