When you're certain an Asset is no longer needed, you can delete it permanently. Deletion removes the Asset from your Library and frees up storage space.

Only Admins and Content Managers can delete Assets from the Library.

Before you delete

Consider these questions:

  • Is it used anywhere? Check if the Asset appears in any Kits, you can see this in the inspector panel.

  • Might you need it later? Consider remove the asset from kits but leaving it in the Library instead.

  • Do others rely on it? Deleting affects everyone in your space

Removing an asset from all kits

If you want to keep the Asset in your Library but remove it from all Kits:

  1. Find the asset in the Library

  2. Open the Action menu

  3. Select Remove from all kits

Deleting an Asset from the Library

  1. Select the Asset in the Library

  2. Right-click (or click the menu icon) and select Delete from Lingo

  3. Confirm the deletion

Tip: You can select multiple assets to delete them in bulk.

Deleting an Asset from the Library (in a kit)

You can also delete an asset from a kit and the library at the same time:

  1. Open a Kit containing the Asset 2 . Select the Asset within the Kit

  2. Open the Action menu

  3. Select Delete from Lingo

  4. Confirm the deletion

Note : Only Admins and Content Managers will see the "Delete from Lingo" option. Other editors will only see "Remove from kit."

What happens when you delete

  • The Asset is permanently removed from your Library

  • The Asset is removed from all Kits where it appeared

  • Any direct links to the Asset stop working

  • Storage space is freed

  • The action cannot be undone

Checking usage before deletion

Before deleting, you can see where an Asset is used:

  1. Select the Asset

  2. In the inspector panel, look for the Used in or Kits section

  3. Review which Kits contain this Asset

This helps you understand the impact of deletion.

Recovering deleted Assets

Deleted Assets cannot be recovered from within Lingo. If you accidentally delete something important:

  • Check if you have the original file elsewhere

  • Contact support if the deletion was very recent (no guarantees)

  • In the future, consider archiving first as a safety measure

When to delete vs. archive (remove from all kits)

Delete when:

  • You're certain the Asset will never be needed

  • You need to free up storage space

  • The content is incorrect or shouldn't exist

Archive when:

  • Content is outdated but might be useful for future reference

  • You're unsure if it's still needed

  • You want to clean up without permanent consequences
