Understanding how sync works helps you manage your Figma-Lingo workflow effectively.

What happens during sync

When you sync an Asset from Figma:

  1. Lingo connects to Figma using your authorization

  2. The linked component or frame is re-exported

  3. The new file replaces the previous version in Lingo

  4. Metadata you added in Lingo (Tags, Custom Fields) is preserved

Handling changes

Renamed in Figma

  • The Asset name in Lingo can be updated or kept as-is, depending on your settings

Moved in Figma

  • If the element moves to a different frame or page, the link may break

  • Re-import if the original link no longer works

Deleted in Figma

  • The Asset remains in Lingo but can no longer sync

  • You'll need to remove it manually or re-link to a new source

Component variants

If you import a component with variants:

  • Each variant can be imported as a separate Asset

  • Syncing updates all variants that were imported

Troubleshooting sync issues

Sync fails

  • Check that your Figma connection is still active

  • Verify you still have access to the source file

  • The element may have been deleted or moved

Wrong version appears

  • Make sure changes are saved in Figma

  • Wait a moment and try syncing again

Link broken

  • Re-import the Asset from the new location in Figma
