Export controls allow you to manage how your Assets can be exported. This helps you create brand consistency by ensuring your Assets are never used at the incorrect size or in the wrong file type.
Only Kit Editors can manage export controls.
Export controls are only available on the Plus and Enterprise plans.
How it works
Export controls work at the Asset level, giving you precise control over each Asset's export options. You can manage two types of exports:
Preset exports - Predefined export options with specific file types and dimensions
Custom exports - Allow users to specify their own dimensions before download
Managing export controls
To access export controls for an Asset:
Select an Asset from your Kit
Click Manage in the Export panel
Configure your preset and custom export options
Save your changes
Currently, export controls can only be applied to one Asset at a time.
Configuring preset exports
Preset exports are the export options people can choose from when downloading an Asset. By default, Lingo creates preset exports for every convertible Asset you add.
In the Preset exports section, you can:
Manage default exports created by Lingo
Create new preset exports
Define file type for each export
Set exact dimensions for each export
Dimension options
When defining dimensions for a preset export, you can enter:
Multiple - Scale by factor (e.g.,
2x)Width - Fixed width (e.g.,
400w)Height - Fixed height (e.g.,
200h)
Configuring custom exports
Custom exports allow people downloading your Assets to change the dimensions to a size of their choosing before download.
In the Custom exports section, you can:
Enable or disable custom exports
Restrict which file types are available for custom sizing
Why use export controls?
Maintain brand consistency - Ensure Assets are always used at the correct size and format.
Simplify downloads - Provide exactly the export options your team needs.
Protect quality - Prevent Assets from being exported at inappropriate sizes.
Control file types - Make sure Assets are used in the right format for each use case.
