Direct links let you embed assets from Lingo directly into websites, emails, and other applications. Each plan includes a monthly direct link usage allowance.
What counts as direct link usage
Every time someone loads a direct link - whether in a webpage, email, or application - it counts as one request. This includes:
Images displayed on websites
Assets embedded in emails
Files loaded in apps via the Lingo API
You usage is also measured in total bandwidth consumed by these requests. Loading a large video files will use more bandwidth than a small image.
How usage is measured
Direct link usage is measured monthly and resets at the start of each billing cycle. You can track your current usage in the insights or billing dashboard.
What happens when you approach the limit
As you near your monthly limit:
You'll receive notifications about your usage
Existing direct links continue to work
Our customer success team will reach out if you consistently approach or exceed your limits to discuss options. We will not disable your links without prior notice.
Managing direct link usage
Monitor high-traffic links - Check which assets get the most requests and whether they're all necessary.
Optimize delivery - To minimize bandwidth, ensure you are delivering appropriated sized files in optimized formats.
Consider your use case - If you're using direct links at scale (e.g., powering a public website), you may need a higher-tier plan or to increase your quotas.
