Note: This feature is currently only available to customers in our Enterprise tier.

After you've set up your Brand Portal, you probably want to share it with others. To make your portal URL more recognizable and memorable, you can create a custom Lingo subdomain yourself, or work with our enterprise support team to set up a custom domain name.

To set up a custom domain:

Step 1: Decide on the domain you want to use

Typically this is something like brand.your-company.com, but you could also use something like www.your-company-branding.com

Step 2: Create A records with your domain name provider

If you are using a subdomain only (for example: brand.your-company.com) you'll only need two new A records. This example is specifically for "brand", but you can use any subdomain you wish.

Host name

Record type

IP address

brand

A

35.173.59.36

lingo-api

A

35.173.59.36

If you want to use a root-level domain name (for example: www.your-company.com) you'll need to create three new A records:

Host name

Record type

IP address

@

A

35.173.59.36

www

A

35.173.59.36

lingo-api

A

35.173.59.36

If you need help with this set up, please contact us and we'll assist you.

Step 3: Let us know

Reach out to our support team letting us know about your desired custom domain. We'll verify that the DNS records have been set up correctly, and take care of the rest of the setup process for you. We'll reach back out to you once your custom domain is fully set up.

Some Important Notes About Custom Domains

  • If you are currently using a custom subdomain (e.g. your-company.lingoapp.com) we'll handle the redirection so that all of your old links seamlessly redirect to the new custom domain.

  • We require the lingo-api record so that we can serve all Lingo services from your domain, this is important for security purposes. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to us.

To set up a custom lingoapp.com subdomain:

  1. Log into lingoapp.com

  2. Select "Settings" in the left rail

  3. Toggle on the "Custom Domain" feature

  4. Type in your desired custom subdomain name

  5. Hit "Set"; if the subdomain was available, it should be instantly available to use, otherwise you may get an error message

  6. Click on "Copy Link" to get a link with your new subdomain to share with your favorite people

If you want to change your custom subdomain, or decide that you just don't want it anymore, it's easy to reset it or turn it off.

From the "Settings" screen we navigated to above:

  • To turn off your custom subdomain, simply toggle the feature "off"

  • To change your custom subdomain, hit "Reset" and type in your new subdomain. Hit "Set" and you're done!

⚠️ Please note: When you change your custom subdomain, any links with the old subdomain will stop working. Additionally, your previous subdomain will be released back into the pool of available subdomains, so another space could claim it. Tread carefully!
