The Inspector lets you view and edit information about selected assets in your Lingo space. It has two modes: a compact bottom bar for quick actions, and a detailed side panel for in-depth information.
Inspector Modes
Simple Mode (Bottom Bar)
When you select an asset, the Inspector appears as a bottom bar showing:
For a single asset:
Asset name
Quick action buttons (share link, download, view details)
One-click access to the detailed Inspector
For multiple assets:
Count of selected items
Bulk actions (add to kit, delete, download)
View details button
Detailed Mode (Side Panel)
The detailed Inspector opens as a side panel on the right side of your screen, showing comprehensive information about your selected asset(s).
Opening the Detailed Inspector
From simple mode, click the View details button (info icon) to open the detailed Inspector. You can also:
Right-click an asset and select View details from the action menu
Click the tab on the right edge of your screen
Once opened, the detailed Inspector stays pinned until you close it.
Closing the Detailed Inspector
To return to simple mode:
Click the chevron tab on the left edge of the Inspector panel
On smaller screens, click the background overlay
Your Inspector mode preference is saved automatically.
What's in the Detailed Inspector
Asset Overview
Name - Edit the asset name directly (if you have permission)
File information - Type, size, dimensions, and duration (read-only)
Notes - Add or edit descriptive notes
Action buttons - Download and copy options
Tags
View all tags applied to the asset
Add new tags or remove existing ones (if you have permission)
Click any tag to search for other assets with that tag
See auto-generated tags (if enabled for your space)
Details
Custom fields - View and edit custom field values
Source - See the original source (like Figma) if applicable
Created - When the asset was uploaded and by whom
Modified - Last modification date
Direct Links
View any direct links created for this asset
Create new direct links or edit existing ones (if you have permission)
Copy direct links for use in other applications
Kits
See which kits contain this asset
Quickly navigate to those kits
Insights
Access usage analytics for the asset (if available on your plan)
Multiple Asset Selection
When you select multiple assets, the detailed Inspector shows:
Count of selected items
Bulk download and action options
Shared tags - Tags common to all selected assets, with options to add or remove tags in bulk
Custom fields - Edit custom fields for all selected assets at once
Changes made in bulk apply to all selected assets immediately.
Inspector Behavior
For Editors - The Inspector allows you to edit metadata any time. Changes save automatically and sync across Lingo instantly.
For Consumers - The Inspector is view-only. You can see all details but cannot make changes.
Quick Preview - When the inspector is collapsed, you can hover over the slim tab on the right edge of your screen to temporarily peek at the detailed Inspector without switching modes.
