Creating and Managing Channels

Learn how to create a channel for a store, retailer, or partner, limit it to a market, and rename or delete it.

Only Admins and Content Managers can manage Channels.

Create one channel for each destination you want to track — a retailer, a store, or a partner. This article walks through creating your first channel and managing it over time.

Before you create a channel

Channels can only carry Available variants, and every new variant starts as Draft. Before you add products to a channel, open each product and set the Availability of the variants you want to share to Available.

Learn more about variant Availability.

Creating a channel

To create a channel:

  1. Go to Products → Settings → Channels

  2. Select New Channel

  3. Enter a Name

  4. Choose a Catalog Filter:

    • All Products — the channel can carry variants from any market

    • A specific market — the channel only sees variants in that market

  5. Select Create Channel

Channel names must be unique within your space. Use a name that's easy to recognize, like the retailer's name.

A new channel starts out empty. Open it and add the products it carries.

Choosing a catalog filter

The Catalog Filter controls which variants are available to the channel. If you don't use markets, leave it on All Products.

If you sell in several regions, create a channel for each one. For example, Aero sells to Summit Outfitters in both California and Nevada, with different pricing in each, so they create Summit Outfitters (CA) and Summit Outfitters (NV) and limit each to its own market.

A channel's market can't be changed once it carries products. To cover another market, create a new channel instead.

Viewing your channels

The channel list shows each channel's:

  • Name

  • Status — a bar showing how many of the channel's variants are In Sync, Updated, Retired, New, or Available

  • Market — the market the channel is limited to, if any

Select a channel to open it. See the Channel Status Reference for more on what the statuses mean.

Renaming a channel

  1. Go to Products → Settings → Channels

  2. Open the channel's menu and select Edit

  3. Change the name, then select Save Channel

Deleting a channel

  1. Go to Products → Settings → Channels

  2. Open the channel's menu and select Delete

  3. Confirm by selecting Delete

Deleting a channel removes it from your list. Your products aren't affected.

Deleting a channel can't be undone from within Lingo. If you might need it again, consider renaming it instead.
