Variant statuses

Status

What it means

What to do

New

A variant became available after the channel was created and hasn't been reviewed.

Review it and add it to the channel, or choose I'll do it later.

Available

A variant the channel could carry, but doesn't yet.

Add it to the channel if it should carry it.

In Sync

The channel carries it, and it matches the last version you confirmed.

Nothing — it's up to date.

Updated

The channel carries it, and something changed since you last confirmed it. Newly added variants also show as Updated until you review them.

Review the changes, update the destination, and Mark in Sync.

Retired

The channel carries it, but it can no longer be shared — it was retired, hidden, set back to Draft, deleted, or its product was archived.

Remove it from the destination, then Mark Done.

Dropped

A retirement you've confirmed.

Nothing. It stays in the Inventory tab for reference.

Channel tabs

Tab

What it shows

Updated

Variants that need your attention: Updated, New, and Retired. The count shows the number of variants waiting.

Inventory

Everything the channel carries: In Sync, Updated, Retired, and Dropped variants.

Catalog

Variants you could add: New and Available.

Counts are in variants (SKUs), not products. Within each tab, variants are grouped under their product.

Row actions

The button on each variant depends on its status:

  • Add to Inventory — for New and Available variants

  • Review — for Updated, Retired, and New variants

  • View — for In Sync and Dropped variants

The row's menu also offers Copy SKU and, for variants the channel carries, Remove from Inventory.

In the channel list

Each channel's status bar shows how its variants break down across In Sync, Updated, Retired, New, and Available, so you can spot channels that need attention.

On the product page

The Channels card on a product shows the status of each variant in each channel. When a product has variants in several statuses, the card highlights the most urgent one: Updated first, then Retired, then In Sync.

Variant Availability and channels

Whether a variant can be shared with channels depends on its Availability:
