Reviewing Changes and Staying in Sync

Learn how to see what's changed on the products a channel carries, review each change, and mark the channel in sync.

Channels is currently in beta. We'd love your feedback — contact us and let us know what you think.

Only Admins and Content Managers can manage Channels.

When you update a product in Lingo, every channel that carries it needs to know. Channels flag those changes so you can update the destination, then confirm everything is current.

How changes are tracked

Lingo compares each variant to the last version you confirmed for that channel. When something has changed since then, the variant is marked Updated.

A few things to know:

  • Changes are saved as you edit. There's no separate publish step. When you save a product, channels that carry it see the change.

  • Several edits become one change. If you fix a typo, then update the price, then edit the description, the channel sees a single combined update — not each step.

  • Only what the channel can see counts. Changes to variants a channel doesn't carry, or that are outside its market, never show up.

Finding what needs attention

Open a channel and go to the Updated tab. It's your work queue, listing every variant that needs a look:

  • Updated — something changed since you last confirmed it

  • New — a new variant you haven't reviewed yet

  • Retired — a variant the channel can no longer carry. See Retired and Removed Products

The tab's count shows how many variants are waiting. Each row shows the variant, its SKU, and when it was last updated. Select Review to see the details.

Reviewing a change

The review window shows the product's variants and their statuses in a list on the left. On the right, you'll see every field with a badge for what happened to it:

  • New — a field that has a value now but didn't before

  • Changed — the value changed. The previous value appears underneath as "was: …"

  • Removed — the value was taken out

  • Attribute Renamed — the field was renamed on the product type

Changes to Availability, Market, and Options show up here too. Changed images are shown with the previous version, and you can Download a file to send along to the destination.

Aero updates the Ridgeline Jacket's description and swaps in a new Desert Clay photo. On the Summit Outfitters channel, the Desert Clay variants show as Updated. Reviewing one shows the description as Changed (with the old text) and the new photo in place of the old one.

Marking a variant in sync

After you've updated the destination with the new data, confirm it in Lingo.

To mark a variant in sync:

  1. Open the channel's Updated tab

  2. Select Review on the variant

  3. Update the destination with the changes you see

  4. Select Mark in Sync

The variant moves to In Sync, and future changes will be compared to this version. Lingo then moves on to the next variant so you can work through the list.

If you're not ready, select I'll do it later. Nothing changes and the variant stays in your queue.

Best practices

  • Check the Updated tab regularly, or after you make a round of product edits

  • Update the destination first, then mark in sync — "In Sync" should mean the channel really is current

  • Use the Inventory tab for a full picture of what a channel carries and which variants are still In Sync
