This guide will walk you through the basics of Lingo - uploading assets to your Library and creating your first kit to showcase them. Let's get started.
New to Lingo? If you haven't already, check out Understanding the Core Concepts: Library, Kits, and Portals to learn the fundamentals first.
Step 1: Upload assets to your Library
The Library is your backend storage system where all assets live. If you're an admin or content manager, you can upload assets here.
Navigate to the Library in your Space
Click Upload or drag and drop files directly into the Library
Lingo supports virtually any file type - images, videos, documents, design files, and more
Your assets will process and appear in the Library

Step 2: Create your first kit
Kits are where you showcase and share your assets with context and documentation.
Click Create in the upper right corner of your dashboard
Select Create kit
Give your kit a name - something descriptive like "Brand Guidelines" or "Product Photos"
Your new kit will open with a blank canvas ready for content
Step 3: Add content to your kit
Now it's time to add assets and organize them.
Your first page will be created automatically named "First Page".
Look for the Insert panel on the left side of your screen
Drag content blocks onto your canvas:
Asset block - Add assets from your Library
Heading block - Organize content into groups with headings
Note block - Add text, great for providing context to the assets in your kit
Banner block - A full width image block
Guide block - Do/Don't guidelines for how to use assets
Gallery block - Galleries are collections of assets
Arrange your content by dragging blocks around on the canvas
Open the action menu by right click or the overflow (β’β’β’) button to customize or perform actions on each block

Step 4: Share your kit
Your kit is ready to share with your team or the world.
Click the Share button in the upper right corner
Choose your sharing settings:
Private - Only people you invite can see it
Anyone with the link - Anyone who has the link can view it
Public - Your kit will be publicly accessible
Copy the link and share it with your audience
You can also add password protection or control download permissions
Learn more about sharing options in Kit Privacy and Access and Portal Access and Privacy.
What's next?
Now that you've created your first kit, here are some next steps:
Invite team members to collaborate on your Space
Build a portal to group multiple kits together
Get everything on brand to match your brand
Organize your Library with tags and custom fields
You're all set! Keep building and let Lingo help you organize, share, and maintain your digital assets.
